数年前に「パッション」が世界上映された時は、この「ライフ・オブ・ブライアン」が世界各地で再上映された。
「奇跡の丘」や「パッション」を見てから「LOB」を見る人には、ただの聖書もののパロディにしか見えないだろうが、さにあらず。
再上映の経緯は、冒涜的だということから当時DVD化されていなかったということもあるが、この映画をPythonsはマジに作っていたことが一番重要。

「コメディからは何も新しいものは得られない」とジョン・クリーズが最近語っていた。しかし、われわれが彼らの作るものから得るものは少なくない。少なくとも、彼が「日常を笑っても新しみもなにもない」、つまり「新たな発見に乏しい」というとき、それならば、生全体を笑いの坩堝に叩き入れることで、生の淵を垣間見てやろうという意志を持ち続ける必要があるのだろう、と私は感じる。

だから、鬱になっている暇はない。関係ないわけではないが、朝青龍よ、君は笑えないな。
